Support Books, Backpacks and Bright Futures for the children of HCHC

Numerous studies show that children from low-income households that have access to books over the summer realize significantly more gains in reading scores than students without access to books. Long term, the differences in children's summer learning experiences during their elementary school years can ultimately influence whether they earn a high school diploma and continue on to college.

In 2017, HCHC kicked off Books, Backpacks and Bright Futures, an initiative supported by the Brown Family Fund that is dedicated to providing educational enrichment programs that support academic success and nurture a love of learning for school-aged residents of HCHC. This fund provides the children free books during HCHC's Annual Book Fair in June and backpacks filled with school supplies during our Back-to-School event in August.

Our generous supporters, Mark and Janet Brown have challenged us with a $10,000 pledge to raise the same amount by August 31. This means every gift that is made is doubled! We cannot meet this matching gift challenge without your support!
